Where to apply for a Schengen visa?

Following a regular public procurement procedure conducted by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, a new contract has been awarded to VFS Global for the operation of Visa Application Centres, effective 1st July.

With the start of the new contract, some important updates will be introduced.

Applicants will be required to complete the visa application form online before scheduling an appointment.

Visa application acceptance through VFS Global will continue without interruption, and all appointments booked before 1st July will remain valid.

Updated VFS service fees will come into effect on 1st July and will be published on the VFS Global website.

For any further information, you may continue to reach VFS Global through the existing contact channels listed on the website.

In general all applications for a Schengen Visa must be personally submitted at our external service provider VFS Global. The service fee levied by VFS Global is currently EUR 19.20.

Applicants who do not wish to submit their application at VFS Global can submit it at the Regional Consular Center Bangkok. In both cases, an appointment is mandatory and must be booked in advance through the website VFS Global. If no appointment was made in advance, neither VFS Global nor the Regional Consular Center Bangkok will accept a visa application.

VFS Global offers various approved additional services that can be booked individually and voluntarily via the VFS Global website after making a regular appointment.

Important notice:

Additional services booked do not guarantee that a visa will be issued or that your application will be processed more quickly by the Regional Consular Centre in Bangkok. In the event of withdrawal or refusal of the application, the visa fees will not be refunded!

Representation agreement

If a State does not have its proper visa section in a country or region, the delivery of a Schengen visa can be delegated to another Schengen State member with an agreement between both countries concerned.

The agreement allows the appointed representation to represent and handle Schengen visa applications within its own competence without consulting the other represented State.
